Why Study Abroad In Singapore?

Singapore has a worldwide reputation in terms of high standard education, research opportunities and innovative teaching and learning.

According to a UNESCO report, more than 50,000 international students arrive in Singapore each year and it was rated the 6th best student city in the world by QS World University Rankings. Due to a melting-pot society, international students don’t have any problem with adjusting to the bustling Singapore. Here are other good reasons that make this city a place worth considering for a degree abroad:

1. English is the official language used in all educational institutions

English is the main language of instruction used in all universities from Singapore so this won’t limit your study options; you can choose any degree that is provided by the university. The only condition is that you deliver proof of your English language proficiency, usually an internationally recognised test.

In addition, English is spoken by around 75 % of the population in Singapore, so communicating and fitting in will be quite easy.

2. Join a diverse student population

Foreign students from all over the world choose Singapore for their higher education, especially since local universities have partnerships with leading universities from other countries. An extensive and diverse student body leads to an enriching study experience provided by the exchange of different ideas and acquiring knowledge about other cultures.

3. Singapore is one of the safest cities in the world

Despite its hectic, always busy and thriving city life, Singapore was actually rated as one the safest cities in the world (number two on the list of the safest cities in the world established by TripAdvisor). The very strict laws, police efficiency and well-developed infrastructure contribute to the overall security environment in Singapore.

4. Singapore has a great city life

Singapore has it all: numerous cultural attractions, night life venues, a wide selection of restaurants, countless shopping stores and the city is alive and vibrant including during the night. You could say it has “the city that never sleeps” type of feeling.

Interesting places to visit while in Singapore include Gardens by the Bay, Buddha Temple and Museum, The triple-towered Marina Bay Sands, The Museum of Art & Design (MAD), Singapore Flyer, the world’s largest observation wheel.

StudyAbroad: Nearly 9 in 10 companies plan to hire MBA graduates, says GMAC survey

Globally, 86% of companies plan to hire recent MBA graduates this year, up from 79% that hired them last year, according to a new employer survey report from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The survey shows that corporate hiring plans for this year point to robust employment opportunities for graduates of MBA and business master's programs.

"Despite the political uncertainty about the status of immigration and work visas in the United States and other parts of the world, companies are keen to hire graduates from this year's MBA and business master's programs, including international candidates," said Sangeet Chowfla, GMAC president, and CEO. "This signifies the value these programs create for students and the vital role their skill sets bring employers."

At the time GMAC conducted the Corporate Recruiters Survey in early 2017, respondents in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the United States declared their companies are staying the course with plans to hire international graduate business candidates. Overall, 59% of the survey respondents plan to hire or are willing to hire MBA and business master's graduates requiring legal documentation — a gain of seven percentage points from 2016.

The survey shows that data analytics expertise continues to be in high demand, and 69% of employers plan to place recent graduate business school hires into data analytics roles in 2017, just trailing marketing, business development, and finance roles — each with 71%.

GMAC conducted the 16th annual Corporate Recruiters Survey in February and March 2017 together with survey partners EFMD and MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA), in association with 97 participating graduate business schools.

The survey findings are based on responses from 959 employers representing more than 628 companies in 51 countries worldwide. Two additional organizations, CEMS and RelishMBA, assisted with recruitment of survey participants.

Having said that, in the recent years, there is a conscious effort to attract students who are English language speakers in recognition of the fact that they are the ones who are looking for educational opportunities outside of their home countries. Knowledge of German and French is recommended, however, if you identify right kind of programmes which are 100% taught in English, in terms of securing a qualification, you will not have trouble. Regularly updated list of qualifications taught in English is available and should be referred to by students to ensure that they don’t have any trouble understanding the curriculum. It should also be remembered that students are likely to find maximum programmes at Masters level taught in English.

The reason for this fall is stricter rules mandated by the Trump government. The consular officials have to now ensure that students planned to return to their countries after finishing their studies.

Tips to Crack Student Visa Interview to Study Abroad

Students who would like to study abroad will first have to pass an student visa interview to study abroad- at the British, the US, France, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Embassies, etc. So How do we should answer the interview?

Student visa interviews are a crucial part of a student’s plan to study overseas. There is often a misconception in the minds of students that obtaining visas for some universities or majors is difficult or rather impossible. The truth, however, is that consulates are not interested in what university or major a student is going but are instead interested in seeking justification for the choice a student has made. Thus, it is very important that students have clear cut explanations for the choices they have made in terms of university or major.

While there are no sure shot ways to help a student crack a visa interview, there definitely are some tips that might come handy. Given below are some of these:

1. Prepare a full file under the request of the embassy, in accordance with each
circumstance and your course.

2. As mentioned above, consider as the interview as a conversation, so first you should
show them that you will have a fascinating conversation by your appearance. I’m not only
saying the beautiful or hot girl, hot boy can get a visa, but please pay attention to the
appearance a bit: neat hair, clean and polite dress. You should smile and let them see your friendliness with some good questions.

3. It is not fine for exchange students to speak negative question: Your English is not good enough like this, how you can learn English? Don’t get rattled. Tell them that my English is not good enough, so I registered short-term English courses before the formal course, with such a good learning environment and hard studying, my ambition, I will definitely meet my course

4. If you can’t hear, you can ask again. Do not be afraid of asking, because only so you
can correctly answer questions.

5. Of course, content of conversation will be determined by the interviewer, it will be so at
the beginning time, and sometimes you should think that you are the interviewer but then
it is doubtful, if you can divert theme, then you definitely have a visa.

Finally, the biggest obstacle for your visa is the employee’s suspect for your studying, you likely return home. Let’s build an academic program and working closely and logically, let them see that your country is really good, rich and beautiful, but I will return to my land with the best persuasive reasons.

Given the fact as to how crucial a visa interview is to materialize one’s plan of studying abroad, a student must dedicate a fair share of time towards its preparation to increase one’s chances of success. At Aliff Overseas, our representatives offer expert guidance to students to prepare them for visa interviews and also conduct mock interviews in order to give them a sense of what to expect on the interview day.

More Students Keen To Study MBA Abroad

Amid the rising popularity of an international MBA tag, global changes are shaping the dynamics of where students are flying.

A survey reveals that the percentage of non-US citizens who say they are now less likely to study in the land of the free has grown to 43% in April 2017 from 35% in November 2016. Similarly, a country-level analysis has revealed that Indian candidates are negatively influenced by the Brexit vote, with 58% reporting that it has made them less likely to study in the UK.

Countries such as Canada, Australia, Germany and New Zealand seem to be gaining from the waning sentiment towards the top two education destinations due to the closed climate.

A recent Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) survey states that nearly three of five prospective business school students (59%) intend to apply for programmes outside their home country, up from 44% in 2009.

Most study abroad to receive a higher quality education (63% of the respondents), to increase their chances of securing international employment (58%), and to expand their international connections (51%).

"Since November 2016, a growing share of international candidates say they are now less likely to pursue a graduate business degree in the US due to the presidential election results," states the survey.
A third (34%) of the candidates who prefer to study outside their country of citizenship intend to seek employment in the country where they prefer to attend school. Moreover, fresh research also shows that three out of four B-school aspirants are holding a prior master's degree.
